Dion is a queer, multidisciplinary artist based in Naarm. He predominantly works in watercolour & oil painting. Dion paints with vibrant and deep bursts of colour, his fluid and intuitive strokes produce a playful naivety. His earth-toned paintings are swelling, passionate emotions pressed into paper with pigment. Dion explores spirituality, nature and mental health through his work - contemplating the inner world vs the outer world. Through these emotive paintings, Dion tenderly invites you to look within his own soul. He has exhibited in numerous group shows, and had his debut solo exhibition Terra Di Grano at the young age of 16.
Dion is also a skilled filmmaker and screenwriter, eager to tell authentic and personal stories about their own queer identity and religion. He graduated studying film at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2022, and has worked on many short films primarily as a production designer, as well as directed his own festival qualifying films The Secret Chord that David Played (2020) and Uncovering (2022).
Dion is also a practicing poet, performing at Sydney’s Queer Writers Festival in 2021. The underlying theme in all of his mediums is identity, soul-searching and uninhibited emotion.
Dion works on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and pays his respects to elders past, present and emerging.
